Spanning over 600 feet across the Colorado River, the new bridge provides a safe river crossing for bicyclists and pedestrians. Located just east of and paralleling the existing Highway 191 bridge, the steel truss bridge of 3 spans provides a perfect balance of form and function with minimal interference to the beauty of the river canyon and surrounding areas. This is part of the improvements to be done in the area to improve tourist access to trails north of the river including routes to Arches National Park, Courthouse Wash, Bar M Trail and Gemini Bridges Trail. A new trail is also under construction along Highwy 128 from Negro Bill Canyon to Highway 191 providing a safe option for riders at the west end of Porcupine Rim Trail. Throughout the entire process, several environmental and aesthetic issues were resolved to provide an optimal design for both the environment and users.
